Some useful Draenei Links
Since I'm a bit of a lazy butt sometimes when it comes to write stuff myself, I'll just share some Draenei Links here which I find really useful for game reference.

First of course there's Wowpedia. Won't get any more official than that.
WoW Insider:
This renowned WoW fan site has some great roleplay and lore articles called "all the World's a Stage" and "Know your Lore".
Some good Draenei examples are:
http://www.wow.com/2008/10/05/all-the-worlds-a-stage-so-you-want-to-be-a-draenei/
A really great help to feel how it's like playing as a blue one, IMO
http://wow.joystiq.com/2011/05/22/all-the-worlds-a-stage-draenei-and-timelines-in-roleplay/
More in depth view of the difficulty of exact time and roleplaying a Draenei.

A great writeup about the history of the Draenei from Argus to now.
Don't miss out Draenor on page 2

Re: Some useful Draenei Links
I came across this very nice page recently; I can't say all of it is 100% confirmed by the lore (like Draeneis views on family and the like), but it sounds all very plausible and is at least like my personal view of the Draenei.
Makes a very nice and helpful orientation for new Draenei players!

Re: Some useful Draenei Links
Well.. the Draenei view on family is very interesting indeed. There was this wonderful piece I read once that describes an orc using illusion to infiltrate the Exodar and he notices how Draenei live from day to day. Again, not official lore, but a very interesting view on it all.
One thing the writer of that bit of knowledge said, was that Draenei actually do not keep family ties once they are adults. They move on to what he calls something like a 'specialized living group'. This is a group of draenei who live together and can support each other or are very specialized in what they do (say Anchorites of a certain view flocking together, like the Auchenai). All adults, of varrying ages, these groups become their new families.
This may actually fit as there is little to no 'My brother, my sister, my mother, my father' problems within the Draenei NPCs. They usually are looking for or mourning over someone close to them, or their beloved. This also fits with the Draenei mindset of having to have had fled and done many sacrifices over the years. They became smaller groups, with no physical or too strong emotional ties. This explains also how so many Draenei were eventually willing to let others die in Shattrath during Velen's massive and decisive 'illusion of extinction' that stopped the Orcs from hunting them further. The Draenei left behind were all part of other groups then the Draenei that fled were.
Now.. this is a very Alien mindset and is hard to get your mind around. So I myself decided not to use it. But it surely is interesting and it shows how much is possible with the Draenei because they are so different then humans.
Also, one wow.com article you have to read: It is not biased, doesnt push a certain direction (in my eyes) but gives a ton of information on Draenei RP and many links to other useful information. http://www.wow.com/2008/10/05/all-the-worlds-a-stage-so-you-want-to-be-a-draenei/ The little sound file linked at the end is very, very lovely to listen once. It is long but emotional and it really gets across the real emotional scar many Draenei will have from the Orc wars, the fall of Shattrath and/or the Exodar incident.
Happy reading!

Re: Some useful Draenei Links
*points at post number one and two in this thread*
Already in our link list But you are right, this article is a must- read for everybody who is interested to get an insight into the psyche of the Draenei caused by their history.
The audio file you mean is Inadra's Story, right? Oh, I loved that one - it seriously made me cry - I am so gutted that it doesn't seem to be available anywhere anymore (the link to this audio page is gone). So far I looked for it, but sadly no success - anybody comes across it,post it here, this audio play was a really beautiful piece of art.

Re: Some useful Draenei Links
I may actually still have the audio on one of my computers. I'll search for it and you'll hear from me about it
And silly me didn't check the article links.. ugh.. that's what you get for writing quickly from work!
Oh and btw.. yeah the Black Temple trailer is awesome. Also having done his entire quest chain (because it was Black Temple attunement) AND finally help Akama defeat Illidan in the Black Temple made Akama my favorite Draenei NPC! (In character, he is actually the one that sent Perlin to seek out the Ebon Flame.. I was stuck at the raid part of the BT attunement when I joined Ebon Flame to raid in TBC.. so it really fits and isn't too Mary Sue-ish.. is it? )

Re: Some useful Draenei Links
Very very interesting read I came across yesterday. May be a bit biased at times, but a very helpful rough guideline about Draenei attitude towards other classes, races and a number of other things:

Re: Some useful Draenei Links
Bored today on the years last days in the office and geeking the forums.. found this VERY nice Draenei players guide by our Argent Dawn Colleague guild Disciples of the Naaru:

Re: Some useful Draenei Links
Have to add this one - a really brilliant Draenei guide from Halya, a player of Defias Brotherhood:
http://forums.wow-europe.com/thread.html?topicId=12304521420&sid=1&pageNo=1
Does focus less on the basics and a bit of a text, , but a great read about Draenei age, mindset, history and their foreigness.

Re: Some useful Draenei Links
Wow.com just wrote a Great know your lore article about the Draenei. This is probably the most complete 2 page writeup of Draenei history (including the Broken as well) that I have read so far:
http://www.wow.com/2010/03/31/know-your-lore-the-draenei/
Next week they said we can expect a writeup about Velen and possibly Nobundo as well!

Re: Some useful Draenei Links
Oh nice one - finally had time to look into it, and it's a very interesting and helpful writeup indeed!!
Exceptionally useful to get the (often confusing) order of things that happened on Draenor in line - eventhough theres not many 'official sources, i found that rather confusing to realize in which order all the events actually took place.
Anywho, updated that into the link list, thanks!

Re: Some useful Draenei Links
I added a link of a great new 'All the world's a stage' article on WoW Insider.
Also added some more sub-headers.
Also changed the wowwiki links to wowpedia versions, as Wowpedia gets updated better these days.
To do: check forum links and possibly update some.
